A beautifully illustrated book of the work of Lilian Snelling, a woman regarded as the most important British botanical artist of her time.From 1915 to 1921, Snelling worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and made approximately 430 watercolours and drawings of plants form the gardens for its then Regius Keeper. Rhododendrons and Primulas are plant genera with which the garden has always been closely associated. This book tells her story and reproduces her drawings and paintings. Illustrated throughout with 110 colour photos and reproductions. It also contains a selection of reproductions of vintage prints of rhododendrons and primulas taken at the RBGE by the renowned landscape photographer Robet Moyes Adam.
